In this season, when we are faced with perhaps the most challenging opportunity to stay in touch with and aware of the things, people and experiences that matter, even though they are the hypothetical focus, I do find solace in having a relatively new pool of peeps that do this as a collective better than most. Roberto, as an individual, was exemplary of this, and the resulting love he has been and will continue to be shown by the cohorts of softball is an earned and honorable gift. I have known him for significantly less time than so many of you, but was taken in by him upon first meeting. From his wippersnappering of Adam's batting technique, to the winking smile that made whatever lucky lady he honored it with (including this one) feel thier most beautiful, to the perserverence and honesty with which he faced his most tremendous battle with ALS, Roberto left footsteps to walk in. I am humbled to have had my world graced by his presence, and motivated by the mutually shared characteristics of he and all of you that comprise this crazy thing called "Cats and Dogs Sunday Softball." May his persona reinforce in all of us our appreciation for all that we have throughout this stretch of time, often referred to as "the holiday season." I wish you all a happy, healthy and grateful thanksgiving and beyond. God bless Roberto and his whole family. kathleen.
